Exhibited as part of the Forgotten Faces exhibition, Ah Ling and Ah Gaa are examples of obscure ethnic ‘convicts’ or criminals who present in late Colonial Australia. Both are Chinese nationals are part of the early wave of Chineese migration during the Victorian Gold Rush. Ah Gaa’s death mask is on display at the Old Melbourne Gaol whilst Ah Gaa’s photograph is documented in the State Archives of Victoria.
